Imagine

Imagine if you will a plum tree
Luscious and draping with fruit
Offering free food, all you can eat
No slot for your hard earned loot.

Just nature looking out for her colleagues
A branch upon which birds can perch
To rest their weary legs and wings
As they take a break from their daily search.

A post upon which we can lean
The plum tree supports us with pride
Her roots are deep and sturdy
She offers shelter for many to hide.

Free food throughout her season
A home for squirrels to rest
A safe shelter for crows to roost
That's why the plum tree is the best.

Now imagine if you will a human
How strong can a human be?
Are they kind and supportive?
Like our friend the loyal plum tree...

Would we offer free food to a stranger
Somewhere they can rest their head?
Many human beings are on the streets
It won't be long before they are dead.

Would we allow people to live together?
As the Plum tree does with squirrel and crow?
Would we want paid for our kindness?
That answer you already know.

I wished I was like that plum tree
I'd give every hungry mouth my fruits
Somewhere to rest their weary heads
Somewhere to hang their old boots.

I wished I was strong like that plum tree
Can you imagine how good she must feel?
Every morning as the sun kisses her leaves
The plum tree, she is the real deal.
