Dream of Me

Every time you smiled at me
I couldn’t get you out my mind
I felt so happy and carefree
Dreaming that you’d be mine

I wrote notes and letters
Kindly asking the universe
To bring us two together
Through the spirit of this verse

I have always wanted to be with you
Longing and yearning in a fantasy
But now I want you to feel it too
Wishing that you would dream of me

I spoke out loud to the starry night
Declaring the love and fire I feel
As my heart seems to take flight
When the sensation seems surreal

And now the words I have written
Carry the weight of my restless soul

You have the courage to be versatile I am discovering Walter, not just sticking to one rigid perspective or form. My writing and life axiom is essentially the same, ABC - Always Be Changing, so I work on my physical and emotional health, I explore nature and try to keep ingesting various kinds of knowledge vis a vis my local library: poetry, sciences, literature. I love the romantic tenderness you've expressed here and I hope you do well in the comp. Reminds me of when I used to secret little notes into my girlfriend's belongings. I like to think she's still discovering them and receiving them kindly, decades later.

Thank you Daniel, you know when I first joined DUP I was only posting in the erotic category, without much feedback and just reads. I closed my account for a few months and removed everything because I decided to be more diverse, enter the different comps to give me experience in the variety of genres and themes.
Love poetry was always my go to, but too often I found myself getting stuck in a formulaic habit (ABAB or ABCB rhyme). One of other poets here suggested the book "The Ode Less Travelled" by actor/author Stephen Fry and found myself even more intrigued. It's one of my goals this year. In drumming there are the 40 Essential Rudiments, so I'll be trying something similar with poetry, 40 different styles. It's always a learning process.

I love how you make that connection with drumming. I often compare artistic mediums and try to draw inspiration from them. I'll go to museums and write verse about the paintings and sculptures, take notes while listening to music. Stephen Fry is an interesting and brilliant person, I should read that.
