FREEDOM FROM SHAME

The Psy teacher wrote
SHAME on the board
asking, "What is shame?"
She proceeded to give the
textbook definition which
included "an unpleasant self-consciousness,
emotion typically associated with
a negative evaluation of self, withdrawing
motivation, feelings of worthlessness and
powerlessness. We knew that wasn't
really shaming in every day life.
Then the teacher said, "I'm going to lock the door
and invite each of you to define shame for me
based on your experiences. Who wants to go first?"
One girl said, "I was shamed when my boyfriend
made fun of my small breasts." Another said,
I was shamed when I didn't know how to properly
insert my boyfriend's penis in my vagina."
A male spoke up, "I was shamed when I ejaculated
as soon as I had a chance to fuck my girlfriend."
Another male piped in, "I was ashamed when I reached
over in the shower and touch a classmate's penis."
The answers continued: shame related to body size;
shame related to performance, and so forth.
The teacher promised that we would learn
to recognize and eradicate shame.
A redhead whispered in my ear as we were leaving
class, "Let's prove to each other that we're not
shamed by any sexual act or deviation from the norm"
Now I was UP for that..freedom from shame is
an awesome power. Don't YOU think so?
