Beastly Revelation

i step down
the spiral staircase

darker deeper with
each step

feeling better with
each step

until
at the bottom

i enter a black empty room with
a small window
at the farthest end

looking out
through the window

i realize i
am peering through the eyes of

my inner beast

through its terrible eyes

i understand that the
beast can never

be contained

but

it can become
an ally

if
i acknowledge and
accept

that the beast
is
me
