onyx'd ancestry.

A generational tender beauty,
aged in precious;
Gram's ring—
She raised her namesake well
Then he passed it down,
per requested wish;
Firstly worn, to match my funeral attire
O' how it shone......

Her light echo'd through all the darkness

Pearl, my great grandmother, who basically raised my dad (who had her maiden name as his middle name) made sure that her ring went to his own namesake, me. My parents wanted a boy to be a namesake, Unfortunately, for them, I was their third and last attempt... Hence, my middle name is my dad's. Gram loved that fact, sooo much and could hardly wait until I was old enough to be given (and appreciate) her black onyx ring with diamond chips surrounding it. Her father had given it to her and I think it was in the family even prior to that... My only real link to her that's left other than my middle name...
Much love,
🌹
