All my letters
forming every word
in every phrase
that lays me open on the page
are for you
I wrote 'em all out in ink and blood
scrawling love and loss
ache and fear
for your heart to read
even the ones you'll never see
Maybe I shouldn't write out loud
how it all sings your name
but it's always there
in all these lines
when you want to listen
for things I can't say

I have listened to that album a million times since it came out. It’s so good.

Thank you, Daisy. Still a little on the fence about this one, but it wanted to be flung out into the world.
The album is so good. I'm more a casual Springsteen fan, but he really grabs me sometimes, and when he does, he holds on tight.

Your lovely poem makes me recall all the letters I’ve written trying to hide myself behind the ink instead of trying to verbalize face to face. I know both have their benefits but I’d rather hide behind the ink. Wonderful write. H🌷

There are so many reasons one may not be able to verbalize things or talk face to face, and it's good that we can get them out through writing. In some cases, even when you have said them, there's still a desire to write it down. I'm glad that you found something to relate to in this, and I appreciate you letting me now.

There is such a poignancy to the idea of unsent, unwritten letters, words whispered into the night. It reminds me of the soulful diatribe of Roy Batty at the end of the movie, Blade Runner. It goes like this,
"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

That quote is achingly lovely, and I'm glad something here brought it to mind for you to share. Whenever I see that you've commented, I so look forward to reading your thoughts.
