There's Never a Good Time to Say Goodbye
There's never a good time to say goodbye,
Speak as you will of the seasons of life,
Of threescore & ten, and philosophy's muse;
Ties of the heart aren't so easy to undo.
Bonds that were forged from the moment of birth,
Though challenged & tested, remain ever so firm;
And vows of love transcend the reaper's call
In obstinate rebellion 'gainst Nature herself.
There's never a good time to say goodbye;
Always one more kiss, one more contented sigh,
One more shared sunset, a chilly walk through winter snow;
Alas, may Heaven now give you strength to make the walk alone.
