guardhouse
in the guardhouse of my head
skeletons limping back and forth
against the rough scratched
maze walls of my skull
my thoughts hang in chains
in the cells of my cerebrum
the lock rusting to all my sums
without key
behind the bars of my eyes
long captivated questions
drag their chains
round and round
how long in the twilight of the past
will this continue?
and when in eternal longing
will parole come?
skeletons limping back and forth
against the rough scratched
maze walls of my skull
my thoughts hang in chains
in the cells of my cerebrum
the lock rusting to all my sums
without key
behind the bars of my eyes
long captivated questions
drag their chains
round and round
how long in the twilight of the past
will this continue?
and when in eternal longing
will parole come?
