Before
Before you came into my arms
nothing on the earth
or in the sky
had settled place
or voice
or substance more than air:
shadows, shadows all
untouchable, untouched.
But now
you’ve made the world alive.
You’ve filled my hands,
my hungering,
with light.
You’ve made me know
this subtle thing called grace.
nothing on the earth
or in the sky
had settled place
or voice
or substance more than air:
shadows, shadows all
untouchable, untouched.
But now
you’ve made the world alive.
You’ve filled my hands,
my hungering,
with light.
You’ve made me know
this subtle thing called grace.
