On Far Lands

I saw one day a garden
Of exquisite beauty rare -
Of inner peace and refuge
All golden colored fair.

Shimmering lakes and forests,
Wild flowers, lawn -
Majestic mountains wearing
The blush of early dawn.

Yet; were you not beside me
Each new dream to share
Golden colored far lands
Would be tawdry - bare.

For the delight of discovery
Would be barren empty night -
If the Friend not enclose me
And fill my space with light.
