Shifts in Perception
It feels like
being surrounded by a dark fog,
Waking up in this existence.
Completely surrounded
by strangers that know my name
But agree to keep the distance.
I'm speaking in babbel,
My simple thoughts cannot be heard,
Even with insistance.
What pity,
To point at my perception of salvation
And to be met with resistance.
I find I was wrong,
My chains are as confined as theirs,
And all worn with proud persistence.
I have to accept
We are just parallel realities
In a world of coexistence.

At times it can feel like we are all alone in a roomful of people.

Ah, now that is a very good question!
In short, salvation is freedom, understanding, and love.
Freedom to explore our world without being confined by social expectations.
Understanding of the life and our effects for the lives we walk with, and walk before.
And love, love is freedom & understanding plus a connection that is so deep that it cannot be erased, a love that echos indefinitely.
Salvation is living with a moral compass and purpose. 🧭
Salvation is like-minded people to walk with.
Salvation is connection that rises above and sees beyond the shallow animalistic instinct to attract, seek gratification, then move on.
Salvation is being less selfish.

Re: Re. Shifts in Perception
Are two minds ever really alike? How alike do they need to be, on percentage terms? I wish you luck in your journey to salvation. It could be a long one. :-)

You're right, Snaggy, two minds are never alike.
I suppose that wouldn't be much fun, any way! 😁
Percentage though:
I'd prefer 85-90% of same core values,
75% common interests...yep, it could be a while to find that kind of close friend! 😆

75% is reasonable lol but as you probably know already, you'd be lucky to find someone that is 75% compatible.
You set the bar very high but why not. ;-)

I hear you, from where I am. It is the best we can do, until the doors of perception are thrown open.
Your poem has such an honest emotion, a vulnerable rendering. It reminds me of the purpose of my write Exhaustions Halo. That we arrive at such an honest place when we are worn down to our most core elements. 🙏💖

Thank you, Daniel.
It's good to know that there is understanding out there ❤
Halo...is that the one that you did audio for?
Now I need to go review! 😁

A lot of my writes have audios. Fidelio I did a pretty good job with the background track.

Definitely a piece that really analyzes all the positions around trying to comprehend what's happening without making any rash decisions.
Loved the ending rhyme at the end of each stanza, repeating the notion to be thoroughly embraced.
Great write.

Thank you, wallyroo ❤
I'm so glad you were able to understand.
It can be so hard and frustrating to learn to accept that other positions may be just as okay, valid, and acceptable in their own right.
This is my perception and plea to understand how to be more tolerant and less condemning...while somehow maintaining my own self perception and beliefs of how life "should" be lived.
It can be a tough pill to swallow, especially when that means I cannot expect and will not be guaranteed that others will be willing to swallow the same pill.
Oh goodness, did any of that make sense?
