trick or treat life like it's real

I think many are trying to keep it as normal for younger children as possible, Paul. They've missed out on so much already this year. Not celebrating a birthday with family and friends, or getting to walk across the stage for graduation after 12 years is nothing compared to death, I know; but, neither is perpetual mourning or disallowing something or somewhat of a semblance of normal.

halloween meant very little in britain when we were kids, as I'm sure you know, but then ultra cute hollywood stepped in    ..

You mean consumerism? I remember caroling at Christmas, but not Trick-or-Treating. I think the base held a party for the Americans, but I remember our British friends being there too.

I don't understand. But I know in the sixties we didn't make such a fuss of Halloween

It was probably a base thing. We were at Sculthorpe RAFB, so a lot of things done mirrored American activities for the youth. The British youth living on the base were always invited too.

This American never got to T & T as a child in the 70's, but I recall once attending a reasonable facsimile in the grade school with games set up all around the gymnasium. With the proper distancing, it spares a lot of people from coming into contact with other people. All the kids get have a little fun, get their fair share of goodies, there's music, mood lighting, and a classroom orvtwo can be converted into a miniature haunted house.
