Letting Go

Overflowing with anxiety
Concious she needs to settle
Facing a personal crossroad
Her focus, family

Multiple opportunies await
If she unshackles the past
Her reward, eternal memories
Of herself, she must gain control

Putting aside her own ideals
Her opinions locked away
Having faith she's done enough
Anchoring loyalty and trust

She reflects on bygone years
Examining how she behaved
Was she forthright and fair
Or selfish without a care

Tinged with sadness and regret
Ashamed of her past conduct
Young and head strong
History proved time heals wrongs

Now here she stands
The mother of the groom
His bride hostile
Refusing her room

Banished into the background
Pains the fibre of her being
Possessed by one desire
To ensure their day is amazing

Clarity allows rational thoughts
Her attitude, she controls
Her words, she chooses
Her love, unconditional

Its her time
To take a back seat
She raised her boy to become a man
 and discover his own feet

The love for her first son,
the groom,
Penetrates her heart
Houred to celebrate his wedding,
The beginning of a brand new start.
