"Out of Sight, Still In Mind"

She twirls through a Wonderland of nightmares
Skipping over traps and landing on cold spikes
The sky raining down ashen petals
Each falling into her newly blued locks
Eyes filled with tears of manic emotion
Laughing with a humor only for the dry.

Suffering with such glorious defiance
She holds her head up high but sees blindly
Each obstacle a surprise
Though endurance pulls her through to the end
Only to meet yet another hurdle that dares to hinder
She lets out a chuckle
Suddenly everything becomes lighter
A sort of music box melody to be oh so unfitting
As the girl takes on more red in ribbons.

Yet still she ventures on
This road is so specific in it's ways
But follow she must with a wary eye
Creating illusions to hide the horrors ahead
Continuing with a haunted smile
Nails embedded in her palms
Transforming the pain into pleasure.

If only I could be there once more
Tearing away a few things in her path
Making the road just a little more bearable
Whispering as the cool wind in her ear
Letting her know that she's a little safer
A little more loved than she believes....

In the words of a wandering mind:

"Martyred in a golden red robe
Sacrificed before all who witness it
I lay eyes on the ribbons that pour from her steps
Carved with each symbol depicting life
Gathering them with a rag of Empathy
Pouring it into a mouth stuck with words
I would await what they would utter
If only it could be done....
"
