Golden Rule
Don't need your sympathy, you lack the empathy
To mean it anyway
You treat others, even brothers
Like they were just there to throw away
The girl is grieving, now you're leaving
You don't want to get involved
Some day it could be you, feeling blue
Maybe your feelings would evolve
Chorus:
Treating others how you would want them to treat you
Not judge them or grudge them
Trying to be cool
You don't have to like someone, you don't have to care
Just try to be civil, just try to be fair
Wouldn't it be better if we all followed the golden rule
Instead of the danger of turning a stranger
Into an enemy like a fool
You go to college, gain the knowledge
Then throw it all away
Serving time from doing the crime
Turning your color world to grey
You see your child, growing wild
Trying to be just like you
With a constitution for an institution
Doing things like you would do
Chorus
To mean it anyway
You treat others, even brothers
Like they were just there to throw away
The girl is grieving, now you're leaving
You don't want to get involved
Some day it could be you, feeling blue
Maybe your feelings would evolve
Chorus:
Treating others how you would want them to treat you
Not judge them or grudge them
Trying to be cool
You don't have to like someone, you don't have to care
Just try to be civil, just try to be fair
Wouldn't it be better if we all followed the golden rule
Instead of the danger of turning a stranger
Into an enemy like a fool
You go to college, gain the knowledge
Then throw it all away
Serving time from doing the crime
Turning your color world to grey
You see your child, growing wild
Trying to be just like you
With a constitution for an institution
Doing things like you would do
Chorus
