Golden Rule

Don't need your sympathy, you lack the empathy
To mean it anyway
You treat others, even brothers †
Like they were just there to throw away †

The girl is grieving, now you're leaving †
You don't want to get involved †
Some day it could be you, feeling blue †
Maybe your feelings would evolve †
†
Chorus: †
Treating others how you would want them to treat you †
Not judge them or grudge them †
Trying to be cool †
You don't have to like someone, you don't have to care †
Just try to be civil, just try to be fair †
Wouldn't it be better if we all followed the golden rule †
Instead of the danger of turning a stranger
Into an enemy like a fool †
†
You go to college, gain the knowledge †
Then throw it all away †
Serving time from doing the crime †
Turning your color world to grey †
†
You see your child, growing wild †
Trying to be just like you †
With a constitution for an institution †
Doing things like you would do †
†
Chorus
