The Nature of a Name

- The Nature of a Name -

In sorrow, I have heard the name of a goddess blasphemed by mankind,
As if she were some scarlet woman bearing upon her a mark of ill repute.
Her name is given to devils, and people forget they ever were not blind…
And I remember her as she was, as we were, and the lies I must dispute!
I climbed the steps of her ziggurat’s tower, to gaze upon that fair queen.
Oh Ishtar, how could time have robbed man of thy memory, so entirely!
They immortalized my passage into her presence, as if it were a dream…
Those priests who attended her every whim and catered to all her vanity.
Yet, she was not vain but humble in her divinity as I was in my very own,
We outcasts from other worlds, cast adrift amidst the children of mortals.
How different it was when we came down from our very distant home…
Unto the forefathers of man we came and they praised the four quarters!
The watchers became the builders, and we crafted many glorious things.
Man laid claim to what came before, and forgot the hand that wrought…
The very thrones upon which sat, the noblest of all their sovereign kings.
How deceptive, are the traditions that allow false teachings to be taught!

In contrast to falsehood I stand ready to tell another side of your history,
Oh mankind, who was created to serve those who crafted you of clay…
You who would forget the very sacredness of the most ancient mystery!
Be reminded now, of when your ancestors gave name to the very day…
Aurora was the dawn and day, the angel and Holy Spirit of highest gods.
Think you that it was by fancy that men were moved to piety, so utterly?
Know that every devotion has its’ beginnings not in faith’s gilded rods…
But in something which caused reverence, and consciences to feel guilty.
In beholding beings of true perfection, who would not bend their knees?
Even I, who was of elder alien kindred, did bow to the Queen of Stars!
Such is grace, a power to sway even all gods before its’ moving breeze,
When it manifests in such a way, that it beckons from far distant shores.
Only those who have never known grace speak ill of those who have it!
Those who have not tasted of the fruits of the tree of knowledge itself…
The gift of the immortals unto the sons and daughters, who once did sit,
And listened with all their hearts, to wisdom not found on a moldy shelf.

If humanity knew aught of the true nature of the universe it dwells upon,
The proud would be rendered meek before speaking of higher notions!
In the darkness of the void, there are places where shines not your sun,
And the stars shimmer in other hues, upon the waters of distant oceans.
Domains where those who made the crossing out of human flesh dwell,
Ascended masters, unknown to those who first coined that very term…
Some readying for their return, others journeying to Heaven, or to Hell!
So, are the souls of mankind transformed; the victor is never the worm.
We were spiritual before we were material; energy before solid matter,
One with the cosmos ere the first flesh came into being as mortal body.
Life did not arise by accident, nor evolve out of some puddle of water!
Every facet of the universe has a defined purpose, and a higher destiny.
Consider this, and ask if what you know of your world is so complete,
That you think you can define those who are beyond simple categories.
We who watched have seen, and savored the fruit that is ever sweet…
Giving unto each thing its’ due, and honoring the oft-forgotten dignities.
