My Heart in the Sand

As the water crashed upon the shore
My heart only begged for more
Forevery footprint that was laid
Was one more heart beat that was made

I miss what was lost between the waves and a cloud
For I had a truly vanished from what made me proud
As the heart beats where it's been
Slowly the sand piles in
It got tigher and tighter around
Only to push our love into the ground

I feel as if our love was gone, but didnt
Just to lay beside you loves footprint

It is true that the sea lends itself to poetry.
In Spain we had Rafael Alberti, who used the sea constantly in his poems. Very beautiful and symbolic too.
I like to read poems of love, with the sea in the background.

Our names
I wrote in the sand
then I got lost in the sea
a look towards the ocean
which well represents
the lapse of our existence...

... Our names
I wrote in the sand,
soon it was erased
by the foam of the waves ...

Truly soulful poem vixen, you certainly have a way with words, don't ever remember reading anything quite as poignant, yet remaining delightfully hopeful and positive, very nice, your heart is full of soul!

staring by the ocean
  out on the open sea
 realizing the great distance
that stands before you and me

 staring up at the moon above
   wrapped up in the darkest sky
 knowing that in forever
   to never be you and I

  so out upon the raging sea
    with waves of violent rain
  staring at the stars above
       to be cast away in pain

   such as the midnight whispers
     that echo love across the sea
  to be alone and hence forgotten
         as lost as lost could be

   so I hereby drop this bottle
       with a little note to say
     of the silent midnight whispers
      into the sea I cast away

   with a drawing of two hearts
        with the names upon the beach
     when the distance is to great
          and impossible to reach

    so into the sea I cast away
       of a love on a raging sea
  to be held within a floating glass
     of the love you share with me...


Lady Vixen - your poems are so expressive - one can not help to be inspired to write a spontaneous responce to them - for as you know poetry is feeling - emotion on the run - sometimes it dark and lonely - other times not so much - but when you feel it you know - and your pen just flows with that - smiles - a beautiful poem you have penned m'lady - well done - always in respect to you - Ron
