Poppin's Principle
Today, blatherskite
erase tedious blathers
pray let’s go fly one
My thoughts turn
to the Bank's family
in the park
the whimsy of flying kites
that Valentine's Day
years ago
when mom and dad
brought kites home
to celebrate
the good ones mind you
brightly colored
translucent paper
tightly rolled
round wooden stays
to diamond unfolding
more typically
by us fashioned
from newspaper
thin, green,
bamboo garden stakes
with ripped old bed sheet
strips for a tail
All life's cares grounded
wind driven souls soaring high
on tightly gripped string

I just love this.
I've read it over a few times already...
Forgetting how much fun it was to get that kite flying so high. Trying to do 'tricks' with it too.
It was hard work to get it airborne but the payoff of it soaring.... awesome!
Wonderful memory, I haven't thought about in sooo very long.

I am so glad you like this Blue❣❣ The whole exercise is actually magical isn't it? I recall that we purchased, at a bonafide kite store in Carmel, CA, a kite called a Tetra that was pyramid shaped and dang did it fly high. I am glad that you too have fond memories of flying kites. I tried with my kids but a lot of the plastic kites now just fall apart.
