Rayleigh Scattering

The sky is cloudless
and blue, blue,
The air is cooler than it was yesterday
It speaks very softly
Over the edges of my frame.
The cool stillness is intensified in the shadows
I feel the sun's rays so weakly
The tree branches take on the color of the sky
And feel crisper
The grass is a little wet
And you'd get your sneakers all damp if you walked across the lawn
The street is very very stony gray
The cars are cold
There's a smoke pillar rising in the distance,
I want a sweater,
It's too warm for that though.
But today is the first day of fall
And the Summer is a very very close exiter
He has gone away for the year
and he left so quietly
It makes the coolness feel emptier.
But everyday will get farther from Summer
But fall is a slowing
The tablecloth needs changing,
My chrysanthemum tea is hot
My sweater will be worn the day after tomorrow
My legs are exposed and feel
The slowly strengthening companionship
Of the breeze;
It is not cold yet
