Dialogue With A Dog

Coming home from work and
Finding her terrier hangng out
on her spot in the bed she says
'You know you're very special
when you're allowed to curl up on my bed!'
She imagines him saying
'It thrills me so just to know
I'm top dog in your life as well.'
She says, 'You're the only dog here but you're still top dog to me.'
She looks at him and sees
sadness in his eyes and asks
'Did I say something to upset you?'

She sits down on the edge of the bed and looking deep in his eyes she pets his soft black coat and asks
'Why do you look so blue
Does your tummy still ache with pain?'
He wimpers just a bit' and stares at his master.
'Might I suggest you lay off the frogs a wee bit and let a few of them live
But no, you'd say it was worth the catch.
and you would do it all over again.
Now wouldn't you?'
