Fire

I'm on fire
The burning sweet burning
Hell shrinks back from my aureole of flames
Hungry for flesh, teeth and bone
Cruel longing standing naked and unsated

I'm on fire
Drowning in sultry, amorous flames
Ignited and unrequited
Branded, stranded, with a love countermanded
Banished to the parched wastelands of the heart

I'm on fire
Choking on the coals of pure desire
Where is the solace,
The wine that was promised
The bright morning promising an end to the night?

I'm on fire
The sun says go on
But remember my son
Remember your stars, how they lie.

I'm on fire
Forever burning for her
A blanket of warmth wrapped around her
A light on the path where she moves

I'm on fire
The burning sweet burning.
