Lighthouse

I found your barren shores ever so calming
in the storms that raged in my own mind
Impregnated with love and blissful beliefs,
but you were a predator for the common senses,
you swarmed in to my defense
whenever the case was an interesting find,
A marionette on show,
dancing horribly for your entertainment,
you're a one of kind
blows I've taken to my body
hurt less than the ones you've done to my soul.

Cold is what I've become and I found it numbs my wounds
but what does a damaged man do?
commit the same sins to others just in spite of you?
no,
I forgave your graceful and cunning display of tossing knives in the air
landing square between my shoulder blades,
a marvelous trick that I think you should've outgrown in your younger years
But what class is taught and what chivalry is due
I find it easier to show affection and commend all the things that you decided to do.
