This Exquisite Silent Vista

Facing the sky she took on the tranquil pose of surrender
Gracilis muscles relaxed to spread slender legs
Her birth canal faces heaven as if praying for grace
For one more chance at life

I pause to consider this most beautiful vista
This canyon view of the symbolic source for our lives
Her moist pink portal still glistens in the fading light

Beautiful now she lies in death’s repose
Her form rests in the determined silence of life’s cruel ends
All memories, passions, and loves erased
With the stillness of her heart

In life she sought to follow her design
Writhing in her celebratory movement of creation
“Was my life well lived, though short?” her body asked in silence
The answer to her question survives only in my mind
Bending to kiss her salty portal I whisper, “Yes.”
