flute concerto

Mirror becomes a razor when it's broken.  A stick becomes a
flute when it's loved.
—Yoko Ono

deforested flute trees
                  sing-song on the breeze,
                                    sweet breath of their nostrils
                                    aspiring to please,
                  before their light fossils
turn martyred apostles.

the strident pimento
         or suave blue mahoe
                in certified sequence
                with juicy mango
         my riverside frequents.
and o how it sweetens

with elegant chansons
                  my secret passions
                                 for filigree tongueing!
                                 when meagre rations
                  inspire my longing
to harbor their thronging,

aeolian nuance
                  gives flute-tongues a chance
                                 to serenade mountains
                                 where daffodils dance,
                  like flautists, like fountains—
concertos in conference!
