so dapper in creased pants
perfectly pressed shirt insignias on shoulder
medals and ribbons over your heart

so proud to ‘defend’ our country
our way of life

there is no sympathy here for you

when the mines mills and factories closed

you fooled yourself into believing
that it was a good honest job
that it was the best way to feed your family

there is no sympathy here for you

you knew when you signed on
that you would become a trained killer

that you would go to foreign lands
to kill men like yourself with families to feed

who look dapper in their creased pants
proud to ‘defend’ their country
to defend their way of life
against you

there is no sympathy here for you

because
you knew that the ‘war’ was unjust
yet you marched in step pointed the gun
and pulled the trigger
obeyed orders that you knew were wrong

murdered people thousands of miles away
who were no threat to your family
your friends your property

people who were a threat to you
only because you were on their land
threatening their friends their family
destroying their homes their property

there is no sympathy here for you

because
it was your choice

to put on a uniform
to carry a gun
to abandon your family
to abandon your morals

in exchange
for a paycheck
and a salute
from the greedy and corrupt

there is no sympathy here for me

because
i paid taxes to corrupt warmongers
because i am the enabler

there is no sympathy here for us

because

we know war is bullshit
but
still go along
