A Conversation Between the Planets

Venus, Mercury and Mars
Meeting quietly underneath their star
Conversed about the Earth

They could not believe its inhabitants
The way they were treating their planet
And began to be concerned

Upon hearing their worries
The gas giants on the other side of the belt
Joined in the discussion as well

“We do a lot for them” Jupiter said
“Comets come in our direction
We take direct hits or turn them around
Sending them back out to orbit
Just so that we can preserve life”

Saturn, Uranus and Neptune agreed

All seven were sad
Looking at the wars they waged on Earth
How they abused their resources
And how their civilization
Still in its fancy
Was beginning to explore their worlds

“They’ve already sent their probes” Saturn said
“They’re really curious about us” Uranus added
“They’re looking for answers!” Neptune exclaimed

But Mars was the most worried
“They’ve already made plans to come to me”

And all the planets sighed
Watching those from the blue dot
Endangering their own planet
Beginning to expand their territory

And Earth stayed quiet for it knew
The day of her reckoning would come
