I still pray for you, son.

The wise man of the sea, thatís what they call me.
Iíve caught wisdom from days alone with my thoughts.
Son, If I could teach you just one lesson of solace from personal experience,
Iíd tell you that the best way to face a wave is head-on.
Iíd tell you to hop back on the horse and chase the woman you love.
Iíd tell you to respect your mother and your name.
Iíd tell you to thank God and your ancestors for your blessings.
Iíd tell you how short time is and to appreciate all the little moments.
If only I spent more time in the present when you and your sister were young.
Iíd tell you to consider the fact others are invested in you, youíre the world in their eyes, the chosen one, the prodigal son who came back and made a change.
Iíd tell you I pray for you every night before I go to bed. I always have.
Iíd tell you I miss you so much my old bones have a hard time coping.
But I can never gift you any of these golden nuggets of truth because Itís too late now.
I donít want to say it was selfish doing what you did, ending it, but your mama couldnít take it and your sister was broken.
She looked up to you son, but now she looks up at empty skies with an anguished expression.
You left a shattered world behind when you did what you did and we miss you.
We miss the sad-eyed stare behind a humorous defense.
Now all I can do is put my words in a bottle to toss into the sea and hope than somebody will find it and it will dissuade them from doing what you did.
Taking away what a man loves most in the world, his son.
I still pray for you, son.
