Leave the Politics at the Door
beautiful conversations
with beautiful souls
whenever we can leave politics at the door
funny how we can agree
on almost everything
when we turn off the news
we like the same foods
midnight barbeques
have the same work mentality
work hard play hard
till we're off and can down a cold one
willing to help anyone in need
with out any reason why
my friends aren't a substructure
left or right, blue or red
we laugh at the same jokes
Jim gets a little colorful with his humor
but his heart's in the right place
mom and dad say they're proud of me
say I'm a man now
yet they disagree with my political stance
guess it's no big deal
I rather not bother explaining
shouldn't try to change a mind made up
because when it's not about winning
it's only friends and family
and hey, all that political shit
is mind fucking agenda driven poison
that belongs no where near our minds anyway

So true...it's politics and religion that fucks up everything.... I try to avoid discussing my political views or religious/spiritual ideologies with most of the people, exceptions being my family or very close friends or relatives

Yeah, unfortunately it always ends up in a pointless fight. And really anymore people just want to hear they're right rather than have a real discussion. I live in a very red area and most my friends say things that I have a hard time understanding. But when it comes to talking about anything that isn't politics it's like we all want the same things.
