A great nite

We got home before the kids
because you have to work tomorrow
(so do I)
and I try to remember to look
unimpressed with them

She clocked me in the jaw
with her cell phone
by mistake
and we laughed
I didn't even feel it

Trying so hard
to move deliberately
without stumbling
So you don't feel
like I'm just another
unruly kid
you have to babysit

I am high on friendship
and wine
And I'm sorry
if that makes your life hard
But I am alive again
and I needed this
evening of
sheer
abandon
