Flying ant day

Do we welcome that day, so humid, so hot
the day all the chosen, be the new broom
not be tied and find a new spot
emerge from the nest, breach the cocoon

With wings beating free
relish the nuptials the height of congress in pairs
find a new home and seek liberty
to swarm in the thousand and blacken the air

Look down and not up
the one day that they dare
fragilities flight the greatest of pluck
the aeronauts find the sweetest of lair

The queen she will live a decade or more
last flight, fates, like the mighty Concord
male's, just death, the waiting reward
journey to an ending just mort

Reincarnation a personal creed
the height of your powers a consummate gift
to fly with the ants which sex would you be
take the long or the short, just to exist
