The New Normal

 
We walk around like Bank robbers
or criminally minded safe-crackers
all masked up and no safe to blow
Hugging and cuddles are illegal
Touching is unlawful
holding hands is frowned upon
sex is positively against the law
but when you're on your own it's not
queuing is absolutely woeful
like vagrants in the soup kitchen line
cries of one in and one out
like a supermarket version
Of shopping, while doing the Hokey Cokey

There is a lack of love in the world
A lack of positive caring
very little active support
the phone rarely rings
the doorbell is virtually silent
The post is intermittent - bills mostly
Suicide figures have spiked
The domestic violence instances have increased
child abuse stats are an all-time high
as are murders and rapes
This is the New Normal
where more will die
than died of COVID

Under house arrest
imprisoned from others
the walls close in
the pressure is palpable
the ocean of depression deepens
the mood and soul darkens
thoughts of morbidity
flirting with a dangerous mindset
although my thoughts my thoughts
are clear and as sharp
as my cut-throat razor

Maybe I should go out
in public with a placard
saying "White Lives Matter!"
that could lead to a speedy death
or even a simple statement
On face-book saying "All Lives Matter"
which apparently Racist?
I lost 600 Facebook friends
with a simple statement
but I am glad they have gone
focusing on one thing fixes nothing
and adds resistance and division

Love, peace, forgiveness
reconciliation and justice
Safety and freedom
Is where it's at!
there is only One Race
the fucking human race
Humanism is the only future
a possible solution for Humankind
wake up and smell
your own shit
and do something about it
it all starts with you!
