Wind catching our hair as we walk down the street
Bodies covered, curves showing, hips moving to their own beat
We real cool
No makeup no weaves bask in our natural beauty
Not even tempted when guys call us cutie
We real cool
Not looking for that next screw
Take care of our bodies like it's a jewel
Don't blend in with crowds
Brownskin sisters rocking their crowns

What i like about your entry is how it winds down from longer to shorter and shorter lines. It's a buildup of monentum that suddenly shifts gears near to the end with a change in the rhyme from U to O; you can feel a natural pause occur. Thank you for taking the plunge into the CCComps. I am sorry for my late reply, I have really been busy this week, and am trying to catch up. I like what you've done in this emulation of Brooks' poem, but in your own unique perspective. I appreciate you exploring the classic comps, and thusly the authors they present. You did a very fine job on your first entry; best of luck in the judging.
