The Plantation

did the plantation ever die?
worthy of a private eye
a question, needing the address
flipping the pages of unrest.
vast were the lands
providing for the heritage to withstand.
now the humor is less than jest
once again the owners read from their list
mistakes, obviously they did make
heavens let's not forsake.
the fierce of  the whip
in modern times they do skip.
honey from the evermore sinister
the plot now is given less vinegar.
did the plantation really die?
observing of these days,
cripples me to say.
the reversal of their way
answering for all
promises, handouts are the present day call.
flock back from your freedom
come back to the master's kingdom.
for he will show you the way
you won't even have to knee or pray.
the gospels of which you sang
have no place on this farewell train.
the owned are put to work
as the masters lurk,
they bend within the fields
in state, they anneal
from a dress rehearsal,
an antebellum thistle.
the owners and drivers
scheme as omnipotent advisors
think of your planned escape
beware of the current landscape
the capture of which they lay
now in a different way.
you will be thrown from the fold
evil and slander....told.

just a quick note,
surely to rock the proverbial boat.
words, patterns formulated  tact
for yet as a battered wife as to her attack
is not this a syndrome
as to all, known.
weep...
history has shown.
