Pirates of Dreams
Dark is the night,
What a sight!
Now illuminated by the stars and full moon,
Enough to make any Pagan swoon,
With each gentle bird's coon.
On the ocean, sails a ship,
A grand galleon, to take a trip.
The pocket watch strikes midnight,
The moment that ends the night
And turns it into morning,
Soon they will be rising.
Merfolk swim below, the time is nigh,
Rising to meet the sky,
Lorelei can be heard below, singing,
As up, and up, the ship is soaring,
On a trail of stars,
Up to the heavens, to worlds far beyond ours.
Sounds of crashing waves fade,
Wearing masks fit for a masquerade,
Pirates hidden behind masks of wishes,
Hiding soul blemishes....
Just for one night,
Everything can be alright.
Through clouds, circling Cerridwyn's moon,
Knowing they will return all too soon,
Riding the rings of Saturn,
Hiding what makes their stomachs churn,
Living in the moment,
Full of kvell, free from strife and torment.
Gliding through nebulae, wormholes, and more,
Finding all their heart's desires and more....
Love, riches, power, fame, friendship, solitude, repartees, scenes of ancient battles past,
What each one searches for they find, but it never does last,
For when the sun rises, and the moon does set,
Comes the feeling they all dread,
For they must return to their mundane, ordinary, lives,
To which they are shackled by invisible gyves,
Until they are nothing more than bonehouses within bonehouses,
With epitaphs of ill repute, forgotten on a daily basis.
