Walk alone

A WALK

You don't have to walk alone
Everytime you pass by, the street boys stalk on you.
The other day you met your friend,  she told you that boys are like predators.

When you came to me,  I was like mother- chicken covering her chicks from a ravenous hawk.
When you came to me, I tried my possible best to drop down every weapon I had.
Even the ones you couldn't see,  cause I knew my eye was a sniper.
So I was disarmed like Nicholas Vujicic

I knew your small world was surrounded with clouds.
So each time we met,  we smiled.
I saw the fog around your smile,  it sure didn't bring out the perfect smile in you.

Like a wiper blade I needed to wipe away the rain that was upon your windscreen,  so you could see what's ahead of you and ahead of us.

Hey dear,
Truthfully speaking
When I met you
I felt the way Thomas Edison felt.
You became a light to my world.
You told me you needed more attention.
Happily when met again in school
School books don't speak.
But if they spoke,  they will say the same thing you said.
They will say that they need more attention too.

I gave you breathing space
So you could make Academic A's
It was a tough one for me not seeing
Your pretty face.

The pandemic ignited the fire back
I'm glad that I can now see your face
I'm glad that I can walk with you.
