ode to rain
Pitter patter on the roof of tin,
This makes such a beautiful din,
So relentless is the rain,
Clouds burst under the strain,
From downpour to the lightest drizzle,
Sometimes accompanied by lightning’s sizzle,
Then thunder’s boom,
Brightens the bleary gloom,
The soothing sound of its tattoo,
From so many drops to just a few,
As soon as it starts,
It suddenly quite hurriedly departs,
Leaving such a peculiar smell,
That you will remember so well,
There is that stillness after the rain,
It seems to have cleansed all tension and strain,
Everything seems all shiny and new,
A certain peace washes over you.
