She Doesn't Know What He Knows

He looks her in the eyes
Eyes that still sparkle in the light,
for now.
She smiles and loves him,
thinks that he is gentle, caring.
She has no idea
who he really is
or what he is capable of.
She doesn't know
that he buried his wife
in the backyard
and next to her
his previous lover.
She doesn't know
the terror that awaits her
when she starts to become
irritating and bothersome.

He looks her in the eyes
Eyes that still sparkle in the light,
for now.
He smiles and loves her,
thinks she's beautiful.
He wonders how long it will be
before he has thoughts of doing
things he's done before.
He knows it pays to have a big backyard
and tall shrubbery
to keep the neighbors from being nosey.
He knows if there's no body
then there's no crime.
He knows that if you're going
to burry a body,
you dig  a hole eight feet deep
and four feet down
you burry a large dog
and mark the grave
with the name of your beloved pet.
Few people know such things.
She doesn't know,
but he knows.

Author's Note
Not my usual kind of writing, but I came across a list of "Ten things you should know that no one is going to tell you". The most interesting thing of the list was about burying a large about the body, if you have to bury a body. I knew I had to somehow work that into a poem.
