Addictions

Everyone has an addiction that numbs the pain.

"Cigarettes"
Takes the edge off temporarly. When the stresses of life become overwhelming, even though you just put one out in the ashtray you light another one. Maybe it's the nicotine, or the brief distration you get from bringing it to your lips and taking another hit.

"Razor blades"
Some how the physical pain momentarliy distracts you from the war inside of your head that has been going on for years now. Maybe the blood reminds you that you're still alive; Or perhaps the blood and scars are physical interpritations of the pain no one can see.

"Pills"
For a little bit it numbs the pain, emotionally, physically and mentally. It takes you high, but is the world growing further away or are you growing further away from the world?

"Alcohol"
Clouds your brain and fogs your judgemnt, but that's exactly what you want. You don't want to feel, you don't want to remember do you? You say you can stop anytime, but that fridge with nothing but beer and liqour says other wise.
 
"Sex"
Brings an amazing endorphance of satisfaction. As soon as it hits you it fades away and makes you crave just one more touch, but It's never really one more. Is it?


"Gambling"
With each loss brings a soul crushing feeling that makes you crave the high of another win. So you place the last remaining chips you've got left on the table and roll the dice again.
