The Submissive to the Dominant
Without submissive, the Dominant is bereft
His need is feral instinct, without thought
She submits with purest joy, rarest treasure
The Dominant is too honored, humbly grateful.
Our ritual agreement missed no steps.
There were no misunderstandings, yet
a handful of joyous days turned ashen nights
sobs of torturous pain replace blissful cries
Submissives know to anticipate, prepare
I knew we would not stand the test of time
Wise is one who sees the ending at the start
Heartbroken, in grace I give you a way out.
Never belittle the discipline of the submissive
determined hearts of iron, to point of masochism
Balancing integrity of self with absolute will of Sir
fully prepared to pay the bitter price of clarity
I could never have lived the beautiful lie
deliberately selfish, ignorant to satisfy my need
The innocents on both sides never consented
to be casualties, or share parental love in our dynamic
So I ripped my soul to shreds, bloody tears
blurring visions of the crystal inevitable
I wrote you a letter, reprieve of the death knell
thankful, yet resentful of your cavalier dismissal
If you are Dominant, the desirous Giver
why is it I, the submissive so obligated
to give you the vision of absolute truth
revealing perfect but deceitful illusion
Our story, however brief, is concluded
We go our separate ways, and I realize
that forever the serenity of submission
Is deepest inverse of purest Domination

Author's Note
The final but visceral reactions to the mutual ending of a D/s relationship. I ponder why I, as the submissive, need to be the voice of reason.

This is an amazing piece of writing.
As one who has lived the Dominant role I’ve often thought to myself how difficult it is to manage both sides of the coin in an intelligent safe way where both of us win. A lot of people think the Dom can be insensitive but from experience beyond the raging desire is the thoughts that keep me grounded in protecting the submissive. It’s my responsibility and I never forsake it.

Truly eye-opening glimpse into the conclusion of a dom/sub relationship. Having read the letter in your previous post I have an appreciation of your resentment that he didn't speak up first. It would seem that as a dominant that would be a responsibility he would be bold enough to take on. Great poem.
