Pirate

A man sails to a distant land
If the story's tale I understand
Searching for treasure on the open sea
Looking to pay off a hefty fee

Wanted for stealing from the queen
He ran and then was never seen
He found a crew that let him join
But he had to pay some amount of coin

So now he works for little gains
And now he mops the dirty stains
Treated with no sense of respect
The hate and misery he should expect

He made his way from the bottom
From winter to the start of autumn
He learned how to make it through
He figured out what he needed to do

He put together a trusty plan
He found himself a trusty clan
As time went on, on the open sea
Different men would start to flee

He worked his way up from nothing
He turned himself from that into something
Now someone who has some say
Now everyone will have to pay

He killed the captain and took the wheel
He told the crew to stop and heel
He said he was the man in charge
He had become the one at large

The devil hides in plain sight
A privateer begins his fight
A man locked in, under lock and key
A big blue world, the shining sea

Author's Note
Not perfect and I could use some help on it. I was trying to write the story of a man going for a better life. Let me know what you would change.
