The Contemporary

Her luscious curling hair, spirals ever down
A deep brown with a light red sheen
A perfect back drop to eyes that pierce
My breath, it stutters

A blue like the flash in labradorite
A smile, caught in the right light
She utters "What" so playfully
As she catches me in a stare

And I have to resist the urge I have
To grab you tenderly by the nape of the neck
Oh, to pull you forward, to kiss you deeply
Is all I need

You are so enticing sitting across from me
Hesitation stale in the air, can she smell my fear?
As I run my hand up your arm and down
You grab my wrist

You said
"I'll break the ice"
As You rush the space between
Faster than I perceived
My breath has all but ceased
Your lips hover for a moment
Almost like a little tease
If I were standing I'd have fallen to my knees

Our lips begin to dance beneath
The spinning shadows of a ceiling fan
A tug of war back and forth
A tuft of hair grasped, the sound of rustling cloth
A fumbling in search of buttons
Blinded by the sweetness
Of this fervorous kiss

I run my hand along your cheek
Rub my nose against yours softly
An affectionate quirk
I saw you smile
As you gazed at me
With blue orbs drenched in curiosity

Moving back slowly our eyes meet
The shadows still dancing up above
Rhythmic thumping can be heard
Spanning the distance between us
There is a new scent to the air
And its intoxicating, darling

We are but the moment
A living, thinking concept
The contemporary
Acting upon instinct
And in this moment
We will burn
We will burn for what we do, darling

Author's Note
The song is Aether - Dear Lillie

I used 2 parts of this song to make 2 different poems, that continue the same story. The Contemporary was wrote after Burn For What We Do, but is the first part of the story. Burn for what we do was inspired by a lovely woman who I've come to know.
