Open Up And Say Ahhh, For Here Comes The Medicine From The Cabinet Of The Long Emergency

simmering in
a beautiful angry broth

ladled out
with wild prophetic precision

a hungry cauldron
of riotous images and fresh thoughts
that dance oh-so jubilantly

spinning silver coins
fading into ghostly reverie

the abstractness of money
lost in a stark crash of hypercomplexity

we,
thunder-ripe witches-brew witnesses,
gurgling throatfuls of carbon
under the patient guidance of moonlight

thrusting bony hips
and wise whispering skin
with worshipful intent

zeros and ones
morph into Hubbert's haunting horizon
all the tears in the world turned obsidian

choking smoke
of factory farms

sentient meat cogs
in the great gothic artifice

dues ex machina pulverized
into a tower of lumbering gristle

stumblebum marionette yanked
stage left with the gleaming hook
of ironic obliteration

poisons of the past
viral-reaping the throats
of the present

populations overshooting
into obliviousness

feasting at the banquet
of immutable consequences

symphonies of marsupial regret percolate,
banshee chorus wailing in cloying fumes
while searching for the safety of mother's pouch

but true gardens
are tended by hand

and safety tastes like
soil under fingernails,
regeneration born of simple sweat

leaping into the rhythm
of nature's ancient wisdom

a polyculture
of the soul

for humankind
has finally taken notice
of nature's song of pruning

and reality's uncaring gatekeeper
only accepts a crescendo
of sonorous simplicity

and the wind-swept trees
whistle along

and the wind-swept trees
whistle along
