Plastic smile
On a plastic face
No one can tell
But you know it's fake
Enveloped by covers
No one will see
This waste of space
I have come to be
No more fun

Damn... That was poignant. I know the feeling you describe... Not something pleasant. Feeling like you have to to safeguard your true feelings can be quite exhausting. Reminds me of a haiku I wrote the other day. I will share it with you here:

You are a phenomenal writer with the ability to turn emotions into words. A rare gift. I know it is a very dark subject, but with people like you expressing the ugly truth behind the pretty little masks we wear, the world seems a little less lonely.
