Silence Breeds No Mania

From the outer silence there shines within
The Spirit, that espouses our innermost Being.
Through the embodiment of its translucence,
Flow the motions of transcendence.

In the tranquility of soundlessness
Pour the Way-showers of His cascading love,
Eternally replenishing our barren parts;
As serenity rules the patience of waiting hearts.

For silence is never heard;
But the Spirit, realized by those only
Sincerely immersed, in the thought of His presence,
As the Grace in His arms unfold His immanence.

But in every sojourn of silence,
A pathway of mania titillates the infant in all of us,
As it smoothens its hands of fraternity
Over our every vulnerable extremity.

And like a tender serpent
Offers us the forbidden fruit,
That poisons us, when we're screaming
With charismatic acts of blaspheming.

Yes, chaos manifests itself under many guises,
But the purity of Truth has no pretense,
For in its undisturbed state will always begin
The silence of the Spirit, that shines within.

Author's Note
Long ago, I was watching television with my family when an uproarious Pentecostal church service came on. Somewhat later, in university, I met a professor who was a Quaker.  From those experiences, I then realized an intriguing incongruity which existed between the two faith groups, which emboldened me to write this poem.
