Magical Dreams~

My brother sat on the couch beside me
He looks at the world through newly thirteen years old eyes
He doesn't really understand things yet and that's okay
Turning to me he asks why our families dreams come true
I chew on my lip thinking how to respond
He continues on about how he doesn't understand
Just how exactly our dreams tell the future
He just started having them and I still don't know what to say
The gift of prophesy in in our blood it seems
Divination and soothsaying our gifts
We have all had them, these dreams that come true
I sit beside my thirteen years old brother and I ask him why he wants to know
He says he had a dream and he doesn't want to tell me what it is
I nodded and didn't ask, it's not my place
I've been pondering on how...
Mental illness and magic go hand in hand
My thirteen years old brother says he has depression
And... Society tells me that my family's dreams are a manifestation of anxiety
That our brains detect patterns and replays them in preparation of the could be events
I don't tell him this for he believes it is magic
And I believe it is too deep down inside me
Somewhere in my soul Knows that magic is in my blood
I hug my little brother and tell him that he's magical
To trust our dreams with a grain of salt
Because the weatherman can say it's going to rain
When it's the most dry sunny day ever
