damn the pandemic
Damn the pandemic
and our meticulously washed hands
that now must avoid human contact
hands that hunger for a touch
empty arms that once were held
now ache for times gone by
how long must we hide at home
wanting to be elsewhere
somewhere the air is not so sterilized
perhaps anywhere
we can breathe the air
and not be scared
damn the pandemic
for taking so many lives
damn it all for being there
and our meticulously washed hands
that now must avoid human contact
hands that hunger for a touch
empty arms that once were held
now ache for times gone by
how long must we hide at home
wanting to be elsewhere
somewhere the air is not so sterilized
perhaps anywhere
we can breathe the air
and not be scared
damn the pandemic
for taking so many lives
damn it all for being there

Share your feelings. Have a birthday today but can't go out to an eating/drinking place to treat myself and have company with our cafes and bars closed.

So sorry you can't go out to treat yourself today. Maybe you could have your favorite meal delivered do you could at least enjoy some good food. That's what I did for my birthday last month. Mine was easy though because it was pizza. The hard part was finding a pizza place that would deliver out here where I live. Regardless, I hope you have a wonderful birthday!. Thanks for reading me.

Damn indeed.
Our city started opening and our numbers have increased. I've stayed away as best as possible but you never know who might have been part of the protests. 😔 People's disregard for their lives and others frightens me.

It frightens me too, Bonzi! Many people are out there amidst the growing rise in numbers. I'm staying in self isolation (which I am dealing with just fine) until I feel safe enough to venture out beyond my trips to forage for food.
Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my poem. I appreciate it.

I can fully relate to this, Faith. Isolation is not for everyone. I am quite happy being physically alone because my home is my little refuge, and I protect who I allow to enter. However, to many others that is not the case. If you can drive to the mountains of anywhere, just drive with your window down, and then pull over into one of the many view spots, it truly does help to breathe that clean air. It's not a human touch, but it's nature's—the next best thing, and most definitely Love.

... and it's nowhere near over :\
You really summed up the emotional hardship of the pandemic and isolation. Here's to wishing for better days ❤️
Beautifully expressed, faith!
