I Am (part 2)

A medley of labels and misguided perceptions
The sum total of varied prejudices
A figment in your mind that aims to perceive me
A lie in your eyes lost in the filter of the way you see yourself
Only our best guess at how we self define
Something more than what we know about ourselves
You and yet no one, misunderstood, in a perpetual state of reinvention
A re-calibrating scale taking inventory of the way I weigh my worth
A counterpart elevated on pedestals of music, lyrics, faith, and art
Broken and yet whole, discontented and yet satisfied
Dead and alive, an image of culture, an identity unseen
A believer and a philosopher, with questions that arrive at answers based in my own biases...
