[ BLM ] Keeping Up Appearances

The hypocrisy is unbelievable. Some of the things I've read have floored me.  Excellent offering; love the title, and the first line especially.

Dear JB,

I feel like this piece is referencing some one specific.  To me, your poem is a spot on definition of a religious zealot. I find that personality scary and dangerous. For all the spewing of biblical references and how everyone should live, the judgements and condemnations against those who don’t are brutal. Always leaves me scratching my head in bewilderment, where’s the love and arms wide open in forgiveness as Jesus’ supposedly preached? Very thoughtful piece.

Thank you, Honoria. It's actually more in reference to people who don't practice what is preached to them. The pews might as well be occupied with cardboard cutouts of them, because being "good" is all about "making an appearance".

People called themselves Christians but don't have a sense of decency or compassion, it's very christ-like. They're all fakes, using religion as a facade. I think you penned this perfectly to capture the hypocrisy.
