Forever topped up
by the tears of history
the well-spring gushes.

His name will go forever on in history books, the tipping point in this racial injustice.

I've not come across that phrase in Langston's writing but it's interesting that 'the dream explodes' carries the same notion of an undercurrent of frustrated hopes for a fairer experience of the world. And thank you for the RL too.

I wasn't quoting directly, but I haven't been able to get "Harlem" out of my head since this all began:
Harlem
BY LANGSTON HUGHES
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Thank you Ely, especially coming from an expert in short-and-to-the-point poetry :))

All it takes is a few moments and a handful of words to keep a man and a movement alive in history for future generations to better understand.

It would be any poet's dream to write some words that carry through into the future for a better world :))

This haiku says a lot in few words, the essence of brevity. It's an amazing thing to stand witness to momentous history, to feel it passing through your everyday life.

Like the Berlin Wall coming down in '89. I wasn't one of those who rushed over there to collect a bit of the wall 'live as it happened' but a friend in our men's group got a lump we sometimes use as a 'talking-stick'.
