retrospectoscopy
we gaze through the retrospectoscope
into our past wishing for what is already gone
or reminding ourselves of mistakes to avoid
prospectoscopy
we gaze through the prospectoscope
hoping to see a future that does not exist
or worrying about things that may never happen
presentoscopy
we gaze through the presentoscope
focused mindful appreciative of
the only thing we really have
now
